Out and about

It’s been a busy week for Confectionery Production so far and it’s not over yet. Today, my blog comes to you from Milton Keynes, where I’m attending ABB’s Bakery Switch to Robots event.

Robotics play a key role in the confectionery industry. Not only are they helping manufacturers to increase production volumes and improve efficiency, they are helping to move workers away from mundane jobs to more skilled tasks. I’m interested in finding out how ABB is helping bakery companies in their road to automation.

Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to tour Golden Casket’s factory in Glasgow, Scotland. The company has recently started to produce jelly babies and midget gems at the factory after investing over £1 million in a new line. The move, which has been years in the making, has improved the quality of the company’s gum range and drive its own brand products. Expect to read more about my visit in one of our upcoming issues.

In amongst all this, we’re working on our June issue. In it, we’ll have features on cooking and depositing equipment, flavours and colours, form, fill and seal packaging, as well as hard/soft candy and lollipops. If you’d like to submit any editorial for consideration, then please get in touch. We’ll also have our bumper Interpack review. Speaking of which, if you’d still like to book in a meeting with theConfectionery Production then please get in touch.

Until next time.
