Abakus launches jujube fruit snacks in Ocado

Healthy superfood brand Abakus Foods has secured a listing with British online supermarket Ocado for its line of jujube fruit products.

The product range includes dried fruit and a line of freeze-dried jujube crisps at a retail price of £1.99.

Jujube fruit, also known as red dates, are native to southern Asia; they are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, iron and amino acids.

Mostly eaten dried, jujube fruit can be used for baking and to sweeten porridge or smoothies. The fruit can also be used in cooking as a substitute for dried apples, dates, or goji berries.

Abakus says its jujube fruit is free from added sugar and chemical additives. Its products are also listed as gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, sulphite-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Abakus’ jujube fruit range is available from Ocado, Grape Tree, Wholefoods Markets, Revital, Avoca, independent health food stores and via the company’s website.
