Hancocks launches empty sweet jars

Hancocks Cash and Carry has launched a five strong range of empty sweet jars, giving retailers even greater flexibility when selling loose sweets. Retailers can fill them with their own bespoke range to sell as gifts or treats, achieving margins in excess of 40%.

“We stock many hundreds of varieties of loose sweets and yet we sell only a small proportion in jars to retail. Selling empty jars allows smaller retailers to make a real difference to their range and their profits. Filled jars make an excellent gift or a treat for the family” says Jonathan Summerley, Hancocks purchasing director.

The empty sweet jar range comprises all shapes and sizes that could enhance display or provide gifting ideas. The smallest jar, a Victorian style sweet jar, could retail at £2.49 when filled and achieve a margin of 46%.

“The opportunities are endless when retailers put in some time and creative thought to fill jars in a bespoke manner. Whilst they are advised to offer something different to the supermarkets, creatively filling jars will be a profitable answer for many” says Summerley.
