Showcasing the latest equipment ranges

With a diverse range of companies descending on Cologne to exhibit at AnugaFoodTec in Cologne, the past couple of days have certainly proved enlightening.

As far as confectionery is concerned, while the main show of the year for the European market is most likely to remain ISM which was held back in January, this week has thrown up some fascinating technology surprises.

The Messe venue is well used to hosting such major international events, and Anuga being once every three years, clearly appears to have attracted a global audience for its equipment-focused displays across the site.

One of the major continuing themes of the event has been the implementation of Industry 4.0 solutions, as I discovered visiting Rockwell Automation. The company has successfully worked within a number of market segments, but its software for efficient equipment management is very definitely applicable to the confectionery and bakery sectors.

Other key areas of focus have included packaging innovations, with companies such as Australian-headquartered Tna demonstrating it has plenty to offer with its latest flavouring system. Meanwhile, Gerhard Schubert showcased its pick and place developments that have proved particularly eye-catching.

The rise of smarter, more efficient automation systems is right at the heart of the trade fair, regardless of what sector of the food market visitors to the show have been involved with. So see our next edition for a full review. For now, enjoy the remainder of the event if you have had the fortune to make it over here to Germany.
