Ice cream maker triumphs

The team at a York ice cream manufacturer is celebrating after winning a coveted Gold award at the Nantwich International Cheese Awards.

Acaster Malbis based Yorvale’s Mango and Lime Yoryog won the first prize in the Frozen Yoghurt category of the cheese and dairy awards, which saw 200 judges reviewing more than 4,000 products. Its Raspberry Cheesecake ice cream also won a Bronze award in the Fruit Flavoured Ice Cream category.

Yorvale director Lesley Buxton is delighted with the result and says: “Yoryog was only launched last year, so we’re very proud that it has won such a prestigious award in esteemed company.

“The yogurt is made on the farm from a culture that we add to our milk to make the frozen yogurt. We then add natural ingredients and flavours to make a smooth and creamy dessert that contains no more than 3.3 per cent fat.”

Yoryog is also available in Blueberry, Honey and Raspberry flavours and is available from farm shops and delis throughout Yorkshire.

Yorvale also won Bronze Awards for its Chocolate Orange and Vanilla with Vanilla Pod ice creams at the Great Yorkshire Show.
