Packed with punch

Quintessentially British crisp company Corkers has announced its move into the vegetable crisp market with the launch of a new variant; made with root vegetables unearthed from the rich soil of the fenlands, twice cooked and naturally flavoured.

Drawing on its experience in potato farming since the 1800s, the crisp company is turning its hand to vegetables and the new range is set to hit the shelves in May. The extension to the current portfolio is in response to consumer demand and aims to offer customers a wider choice. The first new flavour is mixed vegetable with a sprinkle of sea salt, with another two flavours set to launch soon.

Following an investment of over £1m for a specialist vegetable fryer, the manufacturing process has been specifically tailored to produce the same standard of vegetable crisps as potato.

Corkers prides itself on being in total control of the supply chain, allowing it to trace back each bag of crisps it produces to the vegetables it grows.

Ross Taylor, director and co-founder, says: “Potatoes have been our bread and butter since the 1800s. However it has been exciting expanding our farming knowledge and techniques. We’ve been trading in the UK for four years now and have identified a gap in the market for high quality, hand cooked and home produced vegetable crisps, which is exactly why we’re launching the new range.”
