Ice cream business shortlisted
Clapham, London-based business, Oppo Ice Cream has beaten hundreds of small businesses to be shortlisted in the national Nectar Business Small Business Awards.
Founded in 2014, Oppo was the brainchild of Charlie and Harry Thuillier who set out to design a healthy, indulgent ice cream. After 25 months of research, they hit on the perfect formula. By replacing the cream and sugar with virgin coconut oil and stevia leaf (which is sweet, natural and contains no calories), and boosting each flavour with delicious superfoods, they created a luxury ice cream with fewer calories than an apple.
Oppo is now just weeks away from finding out if it will win the Innovation of the Year category, which is judged by a panel of experts led by BBC Dragon, Sarah Willingham. If successful, Charlie Thuillier will win for the business £2,000 cash, 50,000 Nectar points and the prestigious title for his company. What’s more, he will be invited to the Nectar Business Round Table and awards event, which will take place in November, where he will meet and receive tailored expert advice from Sarah Willingham herself.

The Award categories include Small Business of the Year, Home Grown Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Tradesperson of the Year and Contribution to the Community. The winners will be announced on Tuesday 10 November.
