Saratoga Chips unveils organic popcorn range

Kettle chip company Saratoga Chips has launched a range of organic popcorn to satisfy two consumer trends in the snack food industry.

Available in four flavour varieties: Ancient Grains, Farmhouse Butter, Heartland Cheddar and Roasted Garlic and Kale, the OrganicPop range is USDA (US Department of Agriculture) certified non-GMO project verified, gluten-free, kosher OU and made with Saratoga Chip’s Mountain Pure Pink Himalayan Salt.

Ancient Grains is a kettle-popped cluster product that includes black chai seeds, red quinoa, and golden amaranth kettle cooked in organic raw turbinado sugar. Farmhouse Butter and Heartland Cheddar is made with organic butter and Heartland Cheddar is produced with organic white cheddar cheese.

The Roasted Garlic and Kale variety is a blend of oven roasted organic garlic and freeze dried kale, with 35 calories per cup, making it one of the lowest calorie RTE popcorns on the market, according to Saratoga Chips.

“It’s no secret that both ready-to-eat (RTE) popcorn and organic snack foods are both posting double digit growth in consumer research data, year over year,” said Jim Schneider, president and managing partner.

Danny Jameson, vice president of operations and chief architect behind the OrganicPop brand, noted, “The difficulties of creating an organic popcorn snack range from the ground up has been challenging.

“From ingredient validation, supplier certification and ultimate USDA approval, every step of development and production has to be documented and proven to meet the USDA’s strict organic standards.”

The OrganicPop range is available at Shoprite Supermarkets, Hannaford Grocery Stores and Price Chopper Stores across the US.
