Celebrating Spanish chocolate

As you can read in my leading news story, I have just returned from the European Candy Kettle Club’s event in Spain to honour this year’s award recipient, Chocolates Valor.
It was a busy trip though you can’t complain when you are being ferried between a tour of an impressive chocolate facility, a chocolate museum, gala dinners, wine tastings and the like.
However, it was first and foremost a delight to view how this family business has moved with the times, expanded its product selection, production facilities and sales opportunities. The chocolate café concept has been trialed before in other areas but it seems to only really have become an established part of high street life in Spain.
I will also say that after the excess of the gala dinner and dance, the following day’s visit to a Valor café where we could sit and dip churros in rich, hot chocolate was very welcome indeed.
It was great seeing all the club’s member companies coming together to honour Valor and I would like to thank Pedro Lopez Lopez and his team for a thoroughly pleasant stay.
