BonBon Swedish Candy Co., a U.S.-based retailer specializing in Swedish confections since 2017, has announced the release of a new limited-edition candy inspired by the literary character Pippi Longstocking. The launch coincides with the 80th anniversary of the beloved children’s book character, whose first appearance was published by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren in 1945.
The new product, Pippi’s Gold Coins, features tropical pineapple and apricot flavours with a sour twist, designed to reflect the bold and unconventional spirit associated with Pippi Longstocking. The candy is now available nationwide in 4.2 oz bags through BonBon retail locations, the company’s website, TikTok Shop and select partner retailers.
“Pippi has long stood as a symbol of independence and imagination,” said Selim Adira, co-founder and chief product officer at BonBon. “This release is intended as a tribute to the character’s enduring legacy and cultural significance.”
In addition to the candy, BonBon stores and online shop will offer Pippi Longstocking wigs and a curated selection of Astrid Lindgren’s books. A portion of proceeds from sales of both the Pippi-themed candy and books will be donated to the World Childhood Foundation USA. Founded by Queen Silvia of Sweden, the foundation works to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation globally.
