PORiJ partners with TransPennine Express to offer new onboard breakfast option

British porridge brand PORiJ has secured a listing with TransPennine Express, making its plant-based, instant porridge pots available to rail passengers across the network. The move supports growing demand for healthier, convenient food options during travel.

The agreement marks a significant development for PORiJ, which aims to provide high-fibre, plant-based breakfast and snack choices that are easy to prepare and suitable for consumption on the go. The listing brings three products from the PORiJ range to the TransPennine Express onboard offering: Cosy Maple Syrup, Apple & Cinnamon, and Scrumptious Vanilla.

Founded by Daniel Simpson, a former airline pilot, PORiJ was created to address the lack of nutritious, ready-to-eat food options for commuters and travellers. “We developed PORiJ to offer a practical solution for people looking for convenience without sacrificing nutritional quality,” says Simpson. “We’re pleased to be partnering with TransPennine Express to make our products more accessible to passengers.”

Each PORiJ pot contains a blend of oats, seeds, and plant-based protein, and is made with 100% UK-sourced ingredients. All recipes are vegan, free from palm oil, and high in fibre. The products are designed to be prepared using hot water and are ready to eat in three minutes.

The partnership reflects broader shifts in consumer behaviour, with increased interest in convenient formats that also support health and dietary preferences. Transport operators, including TransPennine Express, have responded by expanding their onboard food offerings to include more nutritious options.
