Double up the doughnuts

Krispy Kreme is to double the number of UK outlets it runs over the next five years to almost 100. Its growth plans were unveiled as the company announced annual UK sales of £33.4m for 2010, up from £29.7 million for the previous term. Like-for-like sales were up 1.4%.
“Our strong performance is the product of our customers’ passion for the brand, the quality and variety of our doughnuts and our carefully planned expansion,” says UK joint managing director Rob Hunt.
“We are excited about growing into new UK markets and are confident in our expansion plans. Our store openings speak for themselves, with customers queuing overnight to be the first through the doors.”
