Chocolates Valor receives the 2011 European Candy Kettle Award

Spanish Chocolates Valor has been awarded this year’s European Candy Kettle Award to recognise its commitment to differentiation in the competitive chocolate industry.
The 130-year-old family business is currently run by the fourth and fifth generation. It is the second largest player in the Spanish market with a 15.11% and a leader in the segments of dark, sugar-free and almond chocolate products as well as hot chocolate. Despite the current environment, Chocolates Valor has continued to grow and increase its market share under its ‘Adult Pleasure’ slogan.
Valor has a turnover of €97 million. In addition to a sales subsidiary in US and a presence in over 40 countries, the company has created the first chain of chocolate shops in Spain. Today it has 39 franchised outlets located throughout the country.
It is the second time in its history that this international recognition has been given to a Spanish company. The first went to Chupa Chups in the 80’s. Other recipients in the club’s 38-year history include companies like Nestlé, Suchard, Haribo, Cadbury and Ferrero.
The European Candy Kettle Club consists of suppliers of technology and raw materials for confectionery industry worldwide. Club vice president, Deirdre Wakefield, says, “The award has been given to Valor to recognise its investment and innovative spirit as well as its commitment to differentiation in certain segments of an industry as competitive as chocolates”.
The club enjoyed a visit to the factory, located in Villajoyosa, Alicante, and a Gala Award Ceremony at the Hall Maestral in Alicante.
