Doughnut anyone?

“Fancy a Cheese and Onion doughnut? 23% of people who took part in an on-line doughnut survey for National Doughnut Week, said they did,” says Helen Sinclair, CSM United Kingdom, the sponsors of National Doughnut Week.
Bacon and maple syrup and cheese and chutney flavours were other top scorers. In fact consumers taking part in the survey seemed to think that for something different savoury doughnuts was a great idea.
The survey gave a fresh insight into the consumer’s love of doughnuts and their doughnut wish list for the future, demonstrating that consumers have a real affection for doughnuts which they believe deliver a unique treat sensation for young and old.
The survey confirmed many things about doughnuts that we had long suspected such as, a cup of tea is the best drink to accompany a jam doughnut but for some doughnut fans only a glass of champagne is good enough for their favourite decadent treat!
And for bakers seeking to increase doughnut sales and raise even more cash for charity during National Doughnut Week, our survey says loud and clear – the biggest ‘must have a doughnut trigger’ is watching someone else eating one, so why not hand out a few samples and trigger the doughnut munchies in your shop.’
National Doughnut Week runs from 12-19 May.
