An event packed year ahead beckons

Just as a particularly memorable year came to a close, there are some equally fine prospects on the horizon for 2020 in terms of events, conferences and trade fairs.

Our immediate attention will be turning to ISM and ProSweets at the start of February in Germany, where we will be once again be exhibiting and looking forward to catching up with old friends from across the sector, which will offer some significant insights into both finished products and machinery ranges.

However, in terms of packaging equipment, Interpack, which is staged just once every three years, may well prove the most significant in terms of its industry impact. It has traditionally gained considerable level of interest surrounding the build-up to the event, and 2020’s trade fair is likely to be no exception.

From speaking to a number of businesses set to appear at the global sector showcase, it seems there will be more than a few surprises in terms of new systems, machinery and concepts in store for the global audience set to descend on Dusseldorf this May.

Hot on its heels will be Sweets and Snacks Expo in Chicago, which always offers an excellent indication at the state of the broader confectionery sector as the largest single market in the world.

Then of course, we have our own show to look forward to in September, the World Confectionery Conference, taking place in Brussels, which we believe will also prove a particularly notable occasion for the sector.

There are also a number of other wider events related to confectionery being staged around the world that we’ll fill you in on in coming editions of the magazine. So here’s to another fine and intriguing 12 months ahead in the the industry.
