Birds launches roarsome treats

Families across the East Midlands can get their claws on Birds Bakery’s latest range as ‘Dinosaur Month’ stomps into stores this August.

The bakery has launched limited-edition products including cupcakes topped with a chocolate triceratops, stegosaurus or apatosaurus, hand-crafted chocolate dinosaur lollies, as well as a bag of chocolate dinosaurs that are perfect for sharing. Each treat will be available until 31 August, with prices starting at £1.45.

Commenting on the new range, Mike Holling, sales and marketing director at Birds Bakery, said:

“Dino-fever has hit the region this summer. Alongside the recent Jurassic World film, there have been lots of local events such as A Jurassic Day In Cathedral Quarter in Derby,  Titus at Wollaton Hall, Dino Kingdom at Abbey Park and, of course, Dinosaur World at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall, that have shown there’s a big appetite for everything prehistoric.

“We love shaking up our range of classic confectionery with a fun twist. Now the summer holidays are in full swing, we hope that families enjoy picking up something a bit different next time they pop into their local store for a sweet or savoury snack.”

Revealed just in time for the opening of Dinosaur World Live on Monday 22 August at Nottingham’s  Royal Concert Hall, the selection of tasty treats have already proved popular with the cast during rehearsals. Birds Bakery has collaborated with the team to run a competition to win a family ticket (4 tickets in total, maximum 2 adults) to the show, and a selection from the new range to enjoy.

Launching on Birds’ Instagram and Facebook channels on Monday 8 August, people simply need to comment on the dedicated post with a dinosaur emoji to be in with a chance of winning.

The competition launches this week, and will be open until Wednesday 17 August.

Alongside firm favourites such as savoury pastries, fresh sandwiches and popular caramel doughnuts, Birds Bakery offers a wide selection of Belgian chocolate, hand-crafted at its Derbyshire bakery. Its chocolate comes in a variety of flavours, including milk, dark, white, ruby, gold caramel and strawberry, with shapes ranging from dinosaurs to flowers and smiley face lollies.

Birds Bakery has 62 stores across the region including the Victoria Centre, Bingham and Chesterfield. Many Birds products, including those in the Dinosaur Month range, can also be ordered online and delivered to buyers’ homes using Birds By Post, or ordered in advance through the Ring and Reserve service.
