Strings full of fruit

Healthy snack brand Kiddylicious has developed fruit Wriggles, mini fruit strings snacks for children from one year up.

Fruit Wriggles are new all-fruit treats available in two varieties – Strawberry and Apple, designed to taste like sweets but provide kids with 100% nutrition. Apart from a sprinkle of rice flour to keep each string separate fruit Wriggles contain nothing but fruit. The recommended retail price is 59 pence per single pack.

The new products are currently available in Sainsbury’s and soon to be stocked by other retailers. The brand also features fruit snacks, including apple crisps, pineapple slices and banana bites, as well as seven kiddy-sized frozen meals, cooked and frozen.

Sally Preston, food scientist and managing director of Kiddylicious says, “There are several products on the market which try to make fruit look and taste fun as a snack for kids, but many fruit snacks are basically jelly that contain very little real fruit. They are often full of stabilisers and thickening agents to give the product a funky shape.”
