Tyrrells to expand into Australia and Asia Pacific

English potato crisp brand Tyrrells has revealed plans to expand into Australia and Asia Pacific in a move that will create over 100 jobs.
Tyrrells, which produces crisps, popcorn, rice crackers and tortillas, last year acquired food processing company Yarra Valley Snack Foods. The investment is its first outside of the UK and will see Yarra Valley Snack Foods continue to produce its own lines of snacks. As a result, 120 manufacturing jobs will be created in Victoria.
Victoria is Australia’s largest exporter of food and fibre products, with exports worth A$12 billion ($8.9m) in 2014-2015.
“Quality is at the very heart of everything we do and we found that there was nowhere else able to match, in terms of what was available to us, the Yarra Valley region in Victoria,” says Tyrrells CEO David Milner.
“Victoria is a very straightforward place to do business and that helped inform the decision making process for us, having our headquarters on the other side of the globe.”
