Student Chocolatier of the Year

Andrew Carnall was selected as Keylink Student Chocolatier of the Year 2014 at an event held at Sheffield City College on June 2.

The competition lasted for five hours, during which time each competitor created 12 handmade truffles, 20 moulded pralines, a two portion chocolate plated dessert and a chocolate centrepiece. Andrew produced a spectacular performance with his Basil & Sea Salt truffles, Wild Thyme pralines, English Strawberry Picnic dessert and a magnificent chocolate centrepiece based on Summer in the Steel City!

The competition was judged by chocolate and pastry experts Ruth Hinks (UK’s World Chocolate Master 2012), Thierry Dumouchel (Master Baker and Chocolatier) and Julie Sharp (Technical Advisor from Callebaut’s Chocolate Academy).

Aivaras Jurkaitis from Edinburgh College came 2nd and Reece Hunt from Hopwood Hall College took 3rd place. Steven Gerrard from Edinburgh College, Bradley Mitchell of Barnsley College and Carolanne Taylor of Doncaster College were the runners up.
