Compostable chocolate box tray
UK retail chain Marks & Spencer is to introduce a corn starch-based Plantic tray to hold its Swiss chocolate range with an outer-box made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified cardboard. It is home compostable and will take around three weeks to break down. Under water it will dissolve in minutes, claims the company.
A recently signed deal between Australian company Plantic Technologies and Klöckner Pentaplast Group will see the distribution of Plantic film in Europe and the Americas. It is suitable for chocolate as well as other types of confectionery and other applications such as biscuits.
