Popular British treats

Apparently Maltesers are the UK’s favourite sweet treat; that is according to a poll of 8,000 mobile users conducted by the poll app Just A Score. Despite the fact that we are known throughout the world for our Cadbury Dairy Milk, this well loved British brand lagged behind at number eight!
Another chocolate brand, Minstrels, which is manufactured by Galaxy, came second in the poll, while the bubbly Wispa bar came in at number three. Interestingly, Green & Black’s milk chocolate was fourth on the list, perhaps indicating a move by consumers towards organic brands.
Next on the list at number five was Maoam fruity chews followed by more chocolate in the form of Nestle Kit Kat – the Chunky Peanut Butter edition. Cadbury also made it onto the list at number seven with Mini Eggs.
Haribo Tangfastics and Cadbury Double Decker were placed ninth and 10th respectively, while another classic, Snickers, ranked at 14 and the coconut-infused Bounty Bar scraped in to last place at number 30.
In between, Curly Wurlys, Cola Bottles, Caramac and Pear Drops were among the old school snacks that are still in vogue.
So, if you’d like to know where your favourite brands were placed, from one to 10 were: Maltesers; Minstrels; Wispa; Green & Black’s organic milk chocolate bar; Maoam Strips; Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Peanut Butter; Cadbury Mini Eggs; Cadbury Dairy Milk; Haribo Tangfastics; Cadbury Double Decker.
From 11 to 20: Curly Wurly; Milky Way Magic Stars; Cadbury Fruit & Nut; Snickers; Galaxy Caramel; Nestle Caramac; Wham Bar; Boost; Cadbury’s Easter Creme Eggs; Chewits.
From 21 to 30: Pink ‘n’ Whites; Cola Bottles; Haribo Starmix; Barrett Refreshers; Malteser Bunnies; Galaxy Ripple; Pear Drops; Lindt Lindor milk chocolate; Haribo Super Mix; Bounty Bar.
Overall, a varied and fairly representative mix, which includes many traditional favourites as well as plenty more recently introduced products. However, when it comes to British treats, according to this survey at least, it seems that we still favour chocolate confections. What’s your view?
