Wrigley celebrates 100 years since bringing its chewing gum to the UK and will publish a series of photos from the last century, along with some of its adverts over the past century.

Starting out from a small London office, and with a capital of just £2,000, Wrigley has grown to become the UK’s biggest seller of gum with 725 million packs being bought annually. It now also sells confections such as Skittles and Starburst.

Wrigley has decided to showcase gum’s history in the UK by opening their picture and film archives to the media. These archives document Wrigley’s development over the past century, and feature old images and advertising campaigns.

Hamish Thomson, UK general manager says, “We’ve come far since we launched in the UK in 1911, from small beginnings in a single office in London to becoming the UK’s biggest seller of gum. Despite all the political, cultural and technical changes, the core of what we do remains clear – to celebrate simple pleasures to brighten everyone’s day.”
