Nestlé launches new YES! protein bars

Nestlé UK & Ireland is launching a new range of its YES! snack bars, with each bar containing 10 grams of plant protein from a combination of nuts and peas.

Recent Nestlé research has shown that most people buying protein bars are now looking for more innovative protein sources. Plant protein is a preferred option to help support an active lifestyle.

Like other YES! bars, the new protein bars are made of wholesome ingredients, high in fibre, use no artificial colours or preservatives, are gluten free and suitable for vegetarians.

The 45g bar comes in two flavours: Almond, Peanut and Double Dark Chocolate and Cashew, Blueberry and Dark Chocolate. Nuts are the number one ingredient, and the bars are drizzled with dark chocolate made with sustainable cocoa certified by the Rainforest Alliance.

YES! protein bars will be available from Holland & Barrett stores, BP garages and WH Smith Travel outlets from August. They will also be available from a range of wholesalers from September.

The YES! range of fruit and vegetable and nut bars was launched in 2018. The bars have been crafted to be both delicious and wholesome, with a focus on diverse ingredients that you might not expect to find in any ordinary fruit or nut bar. The other flavours in the range are: Beetroot & Apple; Raspberry & Chia Seed; Dark Choc, Banana & Pecan; Sea Salt, Dark Choc & Almond; Cranberry & Dark Choc and Coffee, Dark Choc and Cherry.

Every YES! bar is wrapped in recyclable paper. The paper is from sustainable sources, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification.

Rosamunde Hobson, brand manager for YES! said: “We know that people are increasingly looking for the right fuel that is good both for them and for the environment. YES! plant protein bars provide a source of plant-based protein to deliver a great wholesome product on the go and are wrapped in paper packaging that is easy to recycle”.

Louise Barrett, head of the Nestlé Confectionery Product Technology Centre in York, said: “Peas not only have a high protein content, they are also one of the most sustainable sources of plant protein available. When developing these new YES! bars, we chose pea and nut protein to really stand out from many of the other bars on the market. At the same time, we made sure that taste was our top priority, and these bars really do taste amazing!”
