Around 8000 independent retailers in the UK are to get the opportunity to trial new 21g packs of Kopiko – the world’s number one coffee sweet brand – following the successful launch of the larger packs last year.

The promotion is being run in conjunction with Newsdropnetwork via retailers who receive their newspapers and magazines through Menzies Distribution or Smiths News.

Kopiko, which has been sold in 55 other countries for over 30 years, was launched in the UK in 2011 and is now sold in newsagents, convenience stores and petrol forecourts around the country, plus selected WH Smiths travel stores.

The new promotion will involve CDUs containing 36 Kopiko coffee or cappuccino 21g packs being delivered to independent retailers along with their regular magazines on a risk free, sale or return basis. The promotion will be launched in March 2012 and will run alongside a similar promotion with the full size packs as part of a phased rollout.

Kopiko is available in two different varieties in the UK – original rich coffee and smooth, creamy cappuccino. Both sweets are made from the finest real Java coffee beans for the authentic taste of coffee on the go.

Charles Buik, business director of Menzies Distribution says, “We are delighted to be giving our customers the opportunity to try the 21g bags as Kopiko is one of our strongest growth brands. Once customers try Kopiko they usually come back for more and we are confident that the pocket size packs will do very well as they are a perfect ‘grab and go’ item for Britain’s coffee lovers who want a little bit of luxury when they’re out and about.”

Kopiko has been on sale globally for many years and the brand already has a strong presence in mainland Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and the Far East. Around 35 million packs a year are sold worldwide, of which around 8 million are sold in the EU alone.

Both Kopiko varieties are available in 90g and 21g packs. They are being sold to retailers in packs of 12 and come in attractive counter top display units. The products are being distributed nationwide via Newsdropnetwork and are also sold via other suppliers, including Palmer and Harvey. Customers can order via their usual newspaper and magazine sellers.
