Weight Watchers has launched a new healthier ice cream to the UK market. Some of the sugar in the product has been substituted with stevia provided by The Real Stevia Company from Sweden, a leading provider of sustainably produced stevia.

“There is now a growing demand for stevia as a sweetener in ice cream. In fact all ice creams to be launched in the coming year will include stevia, since it is an excellent option from both a health and taste perspective,” says Scott Wilson, brand manager Weight Watchers at Ice Fresh Foods, a top distributor of frozen desserts and ice cream in the UK market.

The market for stevia has shown a rapid growth in the past years alongside the increased demand for sugar-reduced food. At the same time consumers are less willing to buy food with artificial sweeteners.

“We will see an increased introduction of healthier products with stevia in 2015. Weight Watchers choosing Real Stevia in their new ice cream is proof that we have great tasting products,” says Sophia Horn af Rantzien, managing director of The Real Stevia Company.
Weight Watchers “salted caramel ice cream” with Real Stevia is now available at Sainsbury and ASDA stores in the UK.
