Wawel to build new production facility

Polish Confectionery manufacturer Wawel is reportedly planning a new investment on a plot recently purchased for €498,000, located near its current production facility in Dobczyce.

The company’s chairman, Dariusz Orlowski, notes that the investment will begin in 2012, and will be completed in 2013 and is likely to include a new production facility. According to Retail Poland, Wawel also plans to invest €6.2 million this year to expand a machine park in Dobczyce, in order to increase production capacity by 15-20%. The first machines will arrive in May, followed by another set towards the end of the year. The company spent a similar amount on the facility in 2010, thus increasing production capacity by 20%. According to Mr. Orlowski, increasing production capacity and improving technology will allow Wawel to grow faster than the market, which is currently growing at 5-6% per year.
The company made €94.6 million in sales revenues in 2010, and a €12 million net profit.
