New listing for Cornish company

Cornwall based confectionery company Buttermilk has secured a national listing to supply Whole Foods Market with four of its new lines.

From Saturday 12 December, Buttermilk’s artisan confectionery will be available to buy in four of Whole Foods Market’s largest UK stores: Kensington and Piccadilly in London, Giffnock in Glasgow and Cheltenham.

Buttermilk will be taking part in a tasting at the Cheltenham store’s gluten free event on Saturday 12 December from 11am to 4pm.

The products include sharing boxes of crumbly caramel sea salt fudge, crumbly chocolate fudge, chocolate-enrobed honeycomb, and almond brittle, in Buttermilk’s newly launched packaging.

Buttermilk is a family run business, which started producing handmade fudge in 1964 at its flagship shop in Padstow.

The forward thinking company expanded this year into new premises in Bodmin, and undertook consumer, customer and trend research, leading to a new look across its range.

Managing director, Tracy McGoad, says: “We launched Buttermilk’s new branding and packaging this autumn, the aim of which was to better reflect the quality of our product and the company’s heritage, while also appealing to consumers’ occasional indulgent needs.

“We think the change in look has really helped to catch the eye of national retailers like Whole Foods Market. We are thrilled to have secured a listing for our products with them and are looking forward to seeing our confectionery in stores before Christmas.”

Falmouth-based designers Kingdom and Sparrow worked with Buttermilk on the branding. The food and drink design specialists have previously worked with brands including the Rebel Brewing Co. and artisan spirit producer Southwestern Distillery, working on the branding for Tarquin’s Gin and Cornish Pastis.

Using responsibly sourced ingredients, including Trewithen Dairy clotted cream, Buttermilk produces over 70 different flavours of smooth and crumbly fudge and a range of confectionery, including tablet, brittle, toffee, chocolate clusters and chocolate enrobed honeycomb.
