Devon-based confectionery business, Crediton Confectionery, has launched traditional and chewy ranges (rsp: £1.39 for 170g) under the Bristows brand.

Products and branded POS material have started rolling out to the impulse channels, with distribution already confirmed in more than 200 Costcutter stores nationwide.

The new products are available for general distribution and are being promoted via the company’s newly recruited territory sales team.

Handmade using traditional methods, the Chewy Bonbons are available in bubblegum, rhubarb and custard, blue raspberry sour and strawberry milkshake.

The Traditional Bonbons range includes blackcurrant and liquorice, strawberry, lemon and toffee.

David Ives, who acquired the Crediton Confectionery business in December 2011, commented: “Business is thriving. The bonbon lines are the first new products we have launched since taking over the business and current production levels are up 30% compared to the same time last year at the factory.”

David added: “Prior to the launch we undertook extensive consumer research. Findings showed that consumers have a nostalgic connection to this much-loved sweet. The Traditional Bonbons come in four favourite flavours specifically designed to appeal to consumers who want to rediscover the taste of quality traditional sweets. The Chewy Bonbons will appeal to younger consumers looking for a new and exciting taste in confectionery.”

Crediton Confectionery was founded in 1932 by Charles Bristow.
