Iconic snack returns

Burton’s Biscuit Company is set to reintroduce the iconic 1980s savoury snack brand, Burton’s Fish ‘n’ Chips. The move follows the snack brand being voted top of a poll in The Sun newspaper for brands readers most wanted to see make a comeback, as well as appearing in The Grocer’s ‘Bring Back a Brand’ campaign. The snack was last produced a decade ago, and will be available from early 2014 in a range of pack sizes.
The move complements the company’s strategic expansion into the savoury snack market. The firm has recently invested more than £1 million in its savoury manufacturing capabilities in a bid to gain a larger share of the convenient savoury biscuit category, which is currently outperforming the total market with 34% value growth.
“Consumers and the trade have been petitioning for the reintroduction of Burton’s Fish ‘n’ Chips through high profile campaigns which have grown in momentum recently. Now is definitely the right time to reintroduce Burton’s Fish ‘n’ Chip to complement our existing range of Great British brands,” said Stuart Wilson, Chief Marketing Officer, Burton’s Biscuit Company.
