Swizzels revamps Love Hearts with emoji twist

Confectionery manufacturer Swizzels has given its iconic Love Hearts sweets a digital makeover with the introduction of limited edition emoji-themed packs.

Swizzels has been making Love Hearts since 1954 and now produces 1.75 billion Love Hearts every year. The brand carried out research into the most commonly used emojis to ensure that the most popular expressions were put into production and printed onto Love Hearts.

Mark Walker, sales director at Swizzels, says, “Our Love Hearts roll is Swizzels’ overall bestselling countline and by adding in these new emoji-themed sweets to our more traditional messages, we are ensuring Love Hearts continue to appeal to a wide audience, driving sales even further.

“The limited edition packs have also undergone a bold new redesign in line with the new additions, giving the packs strong shelf impact and will guarantee to catch the attention of shoppers.”

The Love Hearts are available in 24-count, shelf ready packs, with an individual roll sold for an RSP of £0.30.

The activity is also being supported by an on-pack and digital campaign. The #ShareTheLove campaign is encouraging consumers to purchase the sweets and share it by posting on social media.
