The delegation coordinated by Apex Brasil will occupy 1,400 square metres at Anuga in October. Brazil’s processed food exports are showing the fastest rate of growth among the world’s major food producers. The fifth largest international exporter, Brazil registered an increase in the sales of these products to foreign countries of 4.8% per annum for the period 2005 to 2010.

The fourth largest producer of chocolate, candy and confectionery in the world, Brazil exported $303 million in 2010, an increase of 3.6% compared to the previous year, when it totalled revenues of $293 million and sales to 146 countries over five continents.

The balance sheet prepared by ABICAB (the Brazilian Association of Cacao, Chocolates, Candies and Byproducts Industry) reveals that the sector has exported US$ 164.4 million for the period January to July for 2011, translating into an increase of 14.2% for the same period in 2010. The country occupies eighth place in the list of global chocolate and candy exporters.

Anuga 2011 will see delicacies such as chocolates made from native cacao grown in the Amazon region by Harald, a Brazilian company that mapped the native cacao growing in the most remote regions of the Amazon to produce a chocolate with very little acidity and bursting with flavour. The cacao is harvested by the company in a sustainable manner, preserving the environment and making a positive impact on the economic development of the families living on the banks of the Amazon River network.

Another significant player in the sector is Docile – the largest producer of pastilles in Latin America. It will be bringing its line of jellies along with a variety of other successful treats.
