Maltesers raise money for comic relief

Maltesers and Red Nose Day are back – bigger and better than ever, collaborating for the second time running. This year, the donation from each pack is being increased from 2p to 5p across all pack variants and sizes to reach a £1 million target to help tackle poverty across the UK and Africa.
Maltesers will be supporting Red Nose Day by encouraging people to ‘let your lighter side out’ which will involve social media activity and an on pack message asking people to ‘Help us raise £1million’. The campaign will be supported by trade and consumer advertising, PR and in store POS activity. Consumer interest in Red Nose Day also looks set to increase demand.
Bep Dhaliwal, trade communications manager, Mars Chocolate says, “We are extremely excited that Maltesers will be supporting Red Nose Day for another year to help tackle poverty across the UK and in Africa. It’s an amazing cause, and in 2011 we raised more than £1million for the charity. This year we have set ourselves the target of raising another £1 million, though we’d love to raise even more. To help beat the 2011 fundraising we have increased the per-pack donation to 5p. We are urging retailers to implement the available POS materials and prominently display the promotional packs to help us get behind this great cause, and drive consumer awareness and demand. Packs are available now so please support us in getting behind this great campaign!”
