A Cornish confectionery company has launched three new fudge flavours, including raspberry and liquorice.

The Buttermilk Confectionery Co, based in north Cornwall, has developed three flavours suitable for shops serving loose fudge: raspberry and liquorice; cookies and cream; and cappuccino.

The new flavours come in 225g cut-and-serve fudge bars and can be bought online directly or from the Buttermilk sales team.
The products join Buttermilk’s range of brittles, toffees, truffles, marzipans, Turkish delight, ices and over 70 flavours of fudge.
Tracy McDonnell Goad, managing director of Buttermilk, says: “We’re constantly keeping an eye out for trends, developing new flavours and looking to increase our range, so we recently asked our customers for new flavour suggestions. Cappuccino, and cookies and cream, really stood out for us as they’re both rich, creamy and indulgent.

“We also wanted to introduce an unusual flavour, which is why we went for raspberry and liquorice. In addition to shops, our cut and serve range works well as a “fudge board” for a dessert with a difference at dinner parties.”

Now in its second generation, the family business is run by husband and wife David Goad and Tracy McDonnell Goad who left their jobs in London to take over the company from David’s parents in 2010.

The new flavours have been launched just ahead of Buttermilk’s move to a brand new Bodmin factory in April. The new site will triple the production space and allow for an extra 300kg of fudge to be made daily.
