Bigger Hula Hoops range targets sharing bag market

United Biscuits UK, the manufacturer of biscuits, snacks and cakes, is introducing Hula Hoops Big Hoops to help retailers capitalise on the growing demand for sharing formats of bagged snacks. The new range will be available in three core flavours, as well as a price marked flavour for the convenience channel and will drive further sales of sharing snacks, which are currently growing by 11%.
Available to retailers now with an MRRP of £1.93, the new Hula Hoops Big Hoops are the same Hula Hoops, just a ‘hole’ lot bigger, explains the company. They are available in Original, Sour Cream & Chive and Sweet Chilli flavours in big sharing packs of 160g packs.
UB is also introducing a 100g BBQ pack price marked at £1 specifically for the convenience market to help retailers capitalise on the sharing trend and consumer demand for price marked packs. The total Hula Hoops range is worth currently £81m RSV to retailers and growing by 3%.
George Johnston, bagged snacks marketing director, UBUK, comments, “Sharing formats are doing great business for retailers at the moment and are worth £633m across all channels. However, it is interesting to note that they are growing even faster in Impulse, at 15%, than Grocery, which is up 11%.”
