Divine Chocolate has announced the highlights of its Chocolate Week 2011 plans. Started back in 2003, the Chocolate Week has been voted the nation’s favourite themed week and comprises all sorts of chocolatey happenings at tearooms, chocolate shops, hotels and restaurants across the UK.

Farmer-owned chocolate company Divine Chocolate has been a sponsor of Chocolate Week since it was created and is once again co-sponsoring this nationwide celebration of chocolate which this year is being held from 10-16 October. It has teamed up with chefs, hotels, restaurants and tearooms to offer exclusive new recipes and Divine-themed chocolate events across the country.

Below is just a small selection of Divine’s activity this year …

Exclusive cocktails inspired by and using Divine will be on offer at the chic Sanderson Hotel in London’s West End, including the deliciously tempting Divinitini made with Divine Milk Chocolate, Grand Marnier, Crème de Cacao and vodka.  Divine cocktails will be served in the bar all week at K West Hotel in London, including Strawberry Delight made with Divine’s White & Strawberry Chocolate, Smirnoff vodka and crème de fraise. The newly re-opened Boyd’s Brasserie just off Trafalgar Square will also be serving cocktails made using Divine’s acclaimed dark chocolate.

A number of partners are busy creating special Chocolate Week puds using Divine. The award-winning Kingham Plough in the heart of The Cotswolds has developed a Divine Chocolate and Salted Caramel Millionaires Shortbread which comprises a frozen salted caramel parfait, a shortbread biscuit, dark chocolate tuilles and sauce. The hugely popular Healthy Life Bistro in Devizes, Wiltshire will be serving a Mayan Spiced Chocolate Cake, combining chocolate, orange zest, mace and clove as well as a Chocolate Brownie Cake. At the four star deluxe hotel The Lancaster London overlooking Hyde Park, a very unique offering will be available to diners. A special Chocolate Week dessert has been created using delicious Divine dark chocolate and honey made from the 500,000 bees which sit on top of the hotel itself! Divine Chocolate Fudge Cake with Mascarpone & Lancaster Honeycomb will feature on the Island Restaurant menu all week, priced at £4.50.

Divine tasting sessions will be taking place at cafes and stores across the country including London’s most prestigious department store Liberty in London, Kennards Deli in London’s Bloomsbury, Wholefoods Market Camden, Alder Carr Farm shop in Suffolk and The Healthy Life in Wiltshire.

Widemouth Manor Hotel in Bude, Cornwall is going all out for Chocolate Week, hosting Divine Fondue Nights, a Divine Truffle Making workshop, and Divine Afternoon Tea. Other events in Cornwall include Divine treats at The Cowslip Tearoom in Launceston and The Rectory Tearoom in Morwenstow and Divine desserts at The Wellington Hotel in Boscastle.

The Gore Hotel next to the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington has been described by the media as the most photographed and most romantic hotel in London. Divine and The Gore have teamed up to produce the UK’s first ever Divine Chocolate Board. A sensory experience where the diner chooses three different flavours of Divine chocolate to taste, to which is added a scoop of Divine ice-cream, Divine chocolate truffles and fresh berries, the chocolate board concept which makes a tempting alternative to a cheese board. The Divine Chocolate Board will be on offer in the Bistro as well as special Divine offerings in the starter, main and pudding sections of menu!

Divine is pleased to have joined forces with London based eco taxi firm Climate Cars, with chocolate available for customers across an entire fleet of cars.

Chocolate Unwrapped is the official Chocolate Week consumer show, held at the end of Chocolate Week in London. The fair is held on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October at Vinopolis in London Bridge and will see some of the biggest names in the chocolate industry all gather under one roof.
