Twiglets to get 60% sat fat reduction

United Biscuits is to reduce the levels of saturated fat in its Twiglets brand by 60% and its packaging will feature a flash stating “60% less sat fat – same great taste”.
The brand currently has sales of £15 million and is grooving by 6%. The new packs of the 45g handypack, the 150g sharing pack and multipack formats will be available for retailers to buy in April.
Helen Warren-Piper, marketing director for bagged snacks at United Biscuits, notes, “Consumers continue to be aware of the nutritional content of the food products they eat, whether it’s natural flavourings, low saturated fat or no MSG. This reformulation highlights UB’s commitment to continually redeveloping its products to improve their health credentials, in particular, by reducing levels of saturated fat and salt.”
