Milkboy Swiss Chocolates has made the finalist list for Best Chocolate in the World 2015 in the Specialty Food Association’s 2015 sofi Award competition.

A sofi (specialty outstanding food innovation) represents the best of the best from members of the Specialty Food Association.

The Milkboy Swiss Chocolate 60% Cocoa Dark Chocolate with Essential Pine Tree Oil was one of 125 finalists selected by a national panel of specialty food experts from 2,715 entries across 32 award categories including outstanding chocolate, cheese and savory snack. Winners will be announced on 29 June 29 by Ted Allen, host of Food Network’s Chopped, at a red-carpet ceremony at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City.

“We are honoured to have this kind of gourmet industry recognition in our very first year,” says Emanuel Schmerling, founder of Milkboy Swiss Chocolates. “I grew up in a chocolate crafting family in Switzerland”, he explains.
“Making chocolate was the art of my father and my grandfather. It has been my quest to define a remarkable tasting traditional Swiss-made chocolate,” he adds.

“A sofi Award means a product, and the people behind it, have arrived,” says Ann Daw, president of the Specialty Food Association. This year’s finalists represent a devotion to excellence and innovation in specialty food that continues to fuel our industry,” adds Daw.

The Awards are open to members of the Specialty Food Association, a not-for-profit trade association established in 1952 for food artisans, importers and entrepreneurs with more than 3,000 members in the US and abroad.
