Sainsbury’s gives Boka Food the green light

Healthy snack brand Boka Food has secured a listing with Sainsbury’s for its traffic lights snacks bars.

According to the brand, its Boka snack bar is the first in Europe featuring four green lights front of pack, meaning it is low in fat, saturates, sugar and salt.

Snack bar multipacks of four bars are now available in 440 Sainsbury’s supermarkets (RRP of £2.50) and 115 local stores with a ‘grab and go’ single bar (RRP of 75p). The 30g bars use bright gloss packaging, with a shelf life of over a year.

Health and wellbeing are at the forefront of Sainsbury’s plans in 2018 with trial dedicated health areas launching in 84 superstores with prominent EPU’s (End promotion unit) featuring Boka Food leading in the snack bars category from 3 June.

Franco Beer, founder of Boka Food, food development specialist, says, ‘‘Our approach at Boka is to provide customers with straightforward information about what they are buying and the traffic light label system is the simplest way to communicate exactly what our products contain.

“Further growth in the retail sector means we are able to continue our journey to make healthy snacks low in all four categories without compromising on taste more easily accessible to consumers. We are paving a way for change in the way nutritional information is presented to champion clearer information on food labels.’’
