Charitable popcorn partnership

A partnership between snack brand Metcalfe’s skinny and CLIC Sargent, the UK cancer charity for children and young people, has raised over £15,000 in its first year.

Metcalfe’s skinny teamed up with the charity in February 2014 to rename its classic Sea Salt skinny popcorn to CLIC Sargent Salt Topcorn. For each packet sold, a donation is made to help the charity provide practical and emotional support to children and young people with cancer aged 0-24.

Over £11,000 has been raised by sales of the charity popcorn to date and staff at Metcalfe’s Skinny have raised an additional £4,000 by taking part in sponsored cycle rides, the charity’s annual fundraiser Wig Wednesday and various other events in the past year.

A variety pack has now also been produced, which includes the CLIC Sargent Salt popcorn, and Metcalfe’s skinny hope that as a result, it will be able to make an even bigger donation to the charity next year.

Lucy Caldicott, director of fundraising at CLIC Sargent says: “Eating delicious popcorn while raising money for a good cause at the same time is proving pretty popular – and we’re absolutely delighted!

“With the support of the lovely people at Metcalfe’s Food Company we’re working hard to put the money raised to good use, and helping children and young people cope with cancer and get the most out of life.

“We’re really looking forward to working with the team for two more years.”
